Welcome to Sitamarhi
Sitamarhi, located in the Sitamarhi district of Bihar, is believed to be the birthplace of
Devi Sita, consort of Lord Rama from the epic Ramayana. It is a revered pilgrimage site and a
spiritual hub attracting visitors throughout the year.
Sitamarhi is also associated with the story of Sita's final disappearance into the earth,
said to have taken place here while she lived in the ashram of Saint Valmiki, who authored
the Ramayana. The town houses several temples and heritage sites such as Punaura Dham and
Janaki Temple, making it a destination rich in mythological and historical significance.
